CPL 2023: squad retentions and trades confirmed

The six Caribbean Premier League franchises have been busy making trades and retentions ahead of the 2023 CPL draft at the end of June.

The rest of the draft picks and overseas players will then be formally announced ahead of the CPL 2023 season, which is set to start in the middle of August.

The Royals have made a big splash by securing the services of West Indies t20 captain Rovman Powell. The powerful all-rounder has joined from Jamaica Tallawahs, with whom he led to their third title in 2022, having been with the franchise since 2016.

As well as the signing of Powell, Royals have retained key players in Jason Holder, Obed McCoy, Kyle Mayers and Rahkeem Cornwall. The other players to be retained by the Barbados franchise are Justin Greaves, Joshua Bishop, Nyeem Young and the young quick Ramon Simmonds.
