IPL 2017 Match 24: Rising Pune Supergiant vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match report

An incredible display of hitting from Mahendra Singh Dhoni saw Rising Pune Supergiant to an unlikely six-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad as they moved off the bottom of the Indian Premier League points table.

The game looked lost for Supergiant as they required 47 from the final three overs, but Dhoni motored to fifty off 29 balls to secure a thrilling win off the last ball.

Rahul Tripathi scored his maiden IPL half-century for the hosts as he collected six fours and three sixes before he was run out on 59, but no other batsman could make a similar impact as the required rate continued to climb.

That was until Dhoni sprung into top gear, moving from 25 from 22 balls to his fifty within just seven deliveries as he finished unbeaten on 61.

Earlier, Moises Henriques struck six fours and two sixes in his unbeaten 28-ball 55, while captain David Warner reclaimed the orange cap with a circumspect 43 from 40 balls as Sunrisers piled on 62 runs in the last five overs to reach 176-3.

The Australian all-rounder brought his fifty up off just 26 deliveries as he and Deepak Hooda shared an unbeaten fourth wicket partnership of 47 in just 21 balls.

In response, Pune lost Ajinkya Rahane early but rebuilt well through Tripathi and captain Steve Smith, before the latter played on off the bowling of Rashid Khan for 27 to leave the hosts needing ten an over to lift themselves off the foot of the table.

Rashid then put the stranglehold on Supergiant, with his superb four-over spell of 1-17 coupled with the brilliant run out of Tripathi off his own bowling.

But Dhoni, ably supported by Manoj Tiwary (17*), saw his side home with a masterclass in finishing as he struck five fours and three sixes in his 34-ball innings.
